The CT scans give cross-sectional views of the body. Feeding this data into a powerful computer workstation, we can build three-dimensional images showing the soft tissues, bones, and blood vessels, and see parts of the body, which are difficult to view by any other investigation modality. It helps in formulating treatment strategies in critical areas like the spine and pelvis. Most CT examinations are simple, fast, and painless.
Our anaesthesia department is one of the few centres in Madurai to be equipped with the latest SONOSITE USG machine with probes of three different frequencies (linear, curvilinear & cardiac). This enables us to give superficial & deep nerve root blocks, bedside ECHO in ICU, FAST in casualty, central venous & arterial cannulation & ON ARRIVAL BLOCK for trauma patients.
